Based in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, the System provides the means to ensure the continuation of the Catholic identity and operational strength of the sponsors' health ministries, which are located within 11 eastern states from Maine to Florida.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Charge Description Master Analyst II is responsible for ensuring that all items and services such as procedures, patient visits, supplies and pharmaceuticals that are charged through the Charge Description Master (CDM) are described, coded and in compliance with coding guidelines and Catholic Health East (CHE) standards.

 

This position is responsible for ensuring data integrity between the Charge Description Master and Hospital’s departmental files for multiple CHE Regional Health Corporations (RHCs). This position will perform updates to the RHC CDMs through the Meditech Standard initially, and then eventually through the selected commercially available compliance tool (e.g., MedAssets BPI.net, Craneware, CodeCorrect, etc.) for Meditech and non-Meditech hospitals. In addition, this position will assist in the development and implementation of policies relating to standards and maintaining compliance with Federal, local, and third party payer requirements. Further responsibilities include providing support to the department in setting up new service lines, adding codes and assisting in bringing additional RHCs’ CDMs onto the Meditech Client Server platform.



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Education, Certifications or Licenses: - Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field required with 3 or more years of Medicare billing, clinical work (i.e., nursing or clinical associate) or CDM maintenance (i.e., ICD-9 coding, HCPC and CPT coding); - or a High School diploma or equivalent with 5 or more years in coding and CDM maintenance (i.e., ICD-9 coding, HCPC and CPT coding). - Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) or commitment to obtain within one year of employment. Continued employment contingent on acquiring and maintaining coding certification.

Experience - Proficiency with third party billing and documentation standards. - An understanding of how medical records departments function, how hospital bills are created, the elements in the CDM and service item master. - Experience in hospital operations, a general understanding of the revenue cycle and in particular, charge capture. - Previous experience with Patient Accounting Systems (particularly Meditech Client Server) and bolt-on CDM tools. - Experience using Microsoft© applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. - Experience using patient accounting systems, coding books and CDM tools.

Skills - Demonstrated knowledge of CMS regulations, billing compliance and the various data elements associated with the UB-92/ 837 and HCFA-1500 claim form. - Knowledge of medical terminology required. - Superior verbal and written communication skills…proficient enough to provide education - Excellent interpersonal skills and experience interacting with clinical and financial personnel. - Skilled at performing research on the Internet. - Strong team player. - Ability to work well without close supervision. - Self-starter and detail oriented. - Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills. Mathematical skills, including basic accounting.
