Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse In this role, you will provide quality, cost-effective management for a caseload of inpatients, outpatients, home care, and long-term care patients in the Northwest Region who have complex wound, ostomy, and continence care needs. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in nursing, and must be licensed in Oregon and Washington or must obtain licensure within six months of hire. A valid driver’s license is also necessary, as is a current Basic Life Support CPR card and Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse Board certification. A minimum of four years of medical/surgical nursing experience in a home care, long-term care, hospital, or clinic setting is essential, as is thorough knowledge of current wound, ostomy, and continence nursing practice. Candidates must also possess knowledge of adult learning theory, universal infection control, and vascular assessment, including Doppler measurement of arterial flow. Experience in sharp instrument wound debridement is also essential. Preferred qualifications include two years of related experience as a CWOCN in a home health, acute care, or clinic setting; experience as public speaker; work experience at Kaiser Permanente Working; and knowledge of Medicare and JCAHO regulations.
