Location: Boston Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: IT/Software Development Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Position Summary:  The role of the IS Application Developer is to design, develop, debug, test, and implement small- to mid-size clinical systems. The incumbent must demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability to work independently on development efforts. The position involves extensive interaction with staff at all organizational levels. The incumbent must have the ability to understand the work environment and competing priorities in order to meet project goals. This position reports to the Manager, IS Clinical Systems. Previous experience in healthcare computing is desired. Responsibilities:  Work together with IS and other Medical Center staff to analyze current state, define requirements, re-engineer processes and estimate timelines in conjunction with IS management Design software and data structures to address customer needsDesign, develop, debug, test, and implement small- to mid-size clinical systemsDemonstrate good judgment in escalation of issues in addition to providing ongoing project status updates to managersTake ownership of issues escalated by othersProvide quality customer service and support for clinical systems, serving as an exemplary representative of Information Systems.  Ongoing communication, feedback and follow through with customers/peers are essential.Participate in multidisciplinary project teams.Provide guidance and support to colleagues.Function both as an individual contributor and team player within I.S. and the hospital community at large.Participate in training as required by job duties to remain current with technological changes.Requirements: Qualifications: 5+ years experience in clinical systems development in a healthcare environment or equivalent degree.Extensive knowledge of Cach? and/or asp.net and C# preferred.Experience with HTML, XML and .net desirable.Strong problem solving skills.Ability to analyze current state and to participate in re-engineering processes.Ability to write efficient and clear programming code and create data structures for support and enhancement of clinical systems within the Medical Center.Ability to interact with people from all organizational levels and builds consensus through negotiation and diplomacy.Ability to understand the work environment and competing priorities in conjunction with developing and/or meeting project goals.Strong program testing and verification skills.Experience with writing functional and technical specifications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong customer service skills.Ability to prioritize projects and tasks within the context of Medical Center goals and objectives with minimal supervisionAbility and desire to learn new technology.Ability to be flexible, versatile and adaptable in day-to-day activities conducted in a multi-site environment.
