CLINICAL PHARMACIST
$39.16 - $56.82 hourly $3,132.74 - $4,545.63 biweekly $6,787.61 - $9,848.87 monthly $81,451.34 - $118,186.43 annually The Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley seeks a Clinical Pharmacists. Under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services, is responsible for the distribution of medications and provision of clinical pharmacy services to patients, and professional staff at Riverside County Pharmacies and to do other work as required. The Clinical Pharmacists monitor drug therapy, adjust doses based on individual patient parameters, interface with the medical staff on issues related to drug therapy and promote the cost effective and appropriate utilization of pharmaceuticals. They are also responsible to teach both the staff and pharmacy students. Positions in this class are distinguished from the Senior Pharmacist, and Pharmacist in that they have advanced clinical training and are involved in the therapeutic management of patients. This position is further distinguished from the Senior Clinical Pharmacist in that the latter has full supervisory responsibilities. Examples Of Duties: * Function as a dispensing pharmacist in the Outpatient and/or Inpatient setting. Provides answers to both distributive and clinical questions. Compounds prescriptions and special orders as needed. Performs pharmacokinetic analysis of selected medications with narrow therapeutic ranges. * Checks in/out controlled substances correctly, and maintains an accurate paper trail. Reviews medication utilization of patients and monitors drug therapy when prescribed. Reviews and checks orders from clinics and other outside entities. * Work with nurses, physicians, and other health care providers to ensure optimal patient care. Provides medication consultation to other health care providers and patients. * Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures. Prepares and conducts formal and informal presentations to health care providers. Participates in training programs for other health care providers and performance improvement activities as required. * Participates and maintains quality assurance records and assists in the maintenance of inventory. * Participate on departmental and medical center committees and provide input and guidance to Director as needed. * Work with members of the hospital to ensure a cooperative work environment and work on supervisory projects pertinent to the pharmacy area. Typical Qualifications: Education: Graduation from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm. D.) or equivalent. License: Valid and current license as Registered Pharmacist issued by the California Board of Pharmacy. Knowledge of: Federal, Board of Pharmacy, JCAHO and DHS laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to patient care, and dispensing of legend and non-legend pharmaceuticals and poisons;Good customer (Physicians, nurses, and patient) service; Professional standards and practices. Ability to: Provide quality pharmaceutical care; Communicate clearly and effectively; Work cooperatively with other staff and health care providers; Organize, and manage routine and new responsibilities;Retrieve and process patient and medication information; Properly supervise and direct the work of supportive pharmacy personnel.
