CLINICAL LAB ASSISTANT

Responsibilities:

Greet patients completing requisition with billing information; Screen patient for pre-test requirements; Perform phlebotomy, other specimen collection and process specimens; Accession clinical requests into the computer; Sort and distribute reports and perform specimen pick-up; Answer telephone, handle phone in requests; Communicate effectively with physician and office staff; Perform CLIA Waived and other approved tests as required; Recognize problems and make simple corrections by using preset strategies or refer to supervisor; Use and monitor quality control procedures within predetermined parameters.

 



Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent Phlebotomy skills or the ability to learn (Washington State Certified) Some combination of laboratory education and/or on the job laboratory training that includes analytical experience. PAML CLA – Entry Level Certification required Typing skills (min. 30 wpm) Ability to work without direct supervision WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperienced phlebotomist 10 key experience Knowledge of medical terminology One year CLA Entry Level – equivalent experience, including analysis of patient samples
