Billing Supervisor

USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine Business Office is seeking a Billing and Collection Supervisor to join it’s team.The Billing and Collection Supervisor supervises the work of the Billing staff in the Collectors and Data Entry area. Assigns and reviews work, monitors monthly A/R and corrects all billing problems. Trains staff and ensures timely and accurate patient billings to various insurances. Ensures timelines and accuracy of charges and payments entered into the IDX system. Provide statistical reports to upper management.Job Accountabilities: • Maintains confidential employee evaluations and documents and follow-ups on areas where employees need additional training, counsel as necessary. • Maintain A/R Collections within set parameters, as set by the Department. Maintain that daily as well as monthly Data Entry goals are met. • Participates in the development and implementation of billing and collections policies. Recommends termination of Insurances not performing up to our contract. Develops and maintain denials, edits and non-dropped claims management systems. • Supervises the work of healthcare services billing office staff. Communicates unit priorities. Assigns and schedules work based on assessment of work volume and deadlines. Monitors performance and provides feedback. Provides input for performance appraisals. Recommends new hires and salary increases or promotions. Counsels or disciplines as needed.• Monitors and reviews work for accuracy and timeliness. Identifies and corrects errors. Assists in problem resolution and makes decisions within established authority level. Ensures adherence to internal operating policies and procedures and external guidelines and regulations.• Trains staff in unit operating procedures. Ensures procedures and policies are documented and updated as changes occur. Communicates changes to staff.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of supervising and medical billing experience. Experience with IDX, Excel and Windows.
