About the Health Information Management (HIM) Department:
We know the importance of our Health Information Management department; we have dedicated the financial, technological, and infrastructural resources needed to make our HIM department one of the Nation’s best. The current and continued success of this department rests on the most up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) system and imaging platform along with a truly knowledgeable and dedicated staff of more than 200 employees.
Responsibilities:
· Manage 3-4 Direct Reports and up to 50 indirect reports.
· Plans and schedules all projects to ensure completion within established timeframes, and/or established budgets. Additional activities include selecting, training, motivating, supervising, monitoring and instructing assigned employees to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities. Ensures assigned employees receive opportunities to further their knowledge.
· Serves as senior leadership role to HIM management to mentor and advance HIM Management skills.
· Identifies opportunities for process improvement and develops plans to achieve process performance goals to improve effectiveness, productivity and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and PHHS.
· Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the field of HIM by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations and/or maintaining certification. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
· Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the HIM area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federals
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s Degree Required
· Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Required; CCS preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:10 years experience in HIM 5 year experience managing a team- evaluations, mentoring, and guidingMust possess excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills as well as the ability to think strategically and problem solve on a tactical levelMust be able to demonstrate excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software proficiency
