Anesthesia Aide

Job Description: Responsible for provision, maintenance and technical function of anesthesia machines, ventilators, monitoring equipment, fluid warmers, patient warming systems and other types of anesthesia equipment that may be age specific. Also responsible for provision and stocking of supplies for anesthesia administration, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment such as fiber optic bronchoscopes as well as troubleshooting various types of anesthesia equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:* Receive, store and distribute equipment and materials.* Set up and maintain anesthesia machines and related monitoring equipment.* Check and maintain proper function of suctions gauges and systems, function of gas lines and gauges.* Troubleshoot different types of anesthesia equipment.* Clean and disinfect equipment following established infection control practices.* Dispose of regulated medical waste per guidelines.* Monitor inventory and maintain par stock in central storage areas and individual rooms. Maintain cleanliness and order in storage areas.* Maintain a variety of anesthesia equipment including fluid warmers, IV pumps, intubation equipment, bronchoscopes and TEE probes.* Dispense general equipment and supplies from anesthesia stock areas.* Maintain inventory of medical gas cylinders. Replace cylinders on anesthesia machines as needed.* Perform terminal cleaning of ORs and anesthesia carts at end of day.* Use universal precautions.* Maintain a safe working environment.* Other duties as requested.Job Qualifications: High school diplomaPrior operating room experienceKnowledge of sterile techniqueAptitude for mechanical and electrical equipment2 years experience preferred
