Our Chester Campus is currently seeking an Admissions Clerk to serve as a representative for the Inpatient Admissions department. This role will involve Interviewing patients at bedside and performing the admission process including data entry, completion of related paperwork and admissions documents. The admissions clerk will ensure that all patients are registered / interviewed accurately and in a timely manner while promoting customer service as well as assisting in maintaining the preadmissions functions on a daily basis as required.

 

 

Specific Duties:

1.  Communicates with preadmission staff to obtain necessary information to register / admit patients.

2.  Performs all pre-admit data entry functions into the HMS system necessary to register patients.

3.  Interviews patients at bedside to verify information received by outside referrals.

4.  Prepares admission documents and explains documents to patients / families and obtain necessary signatures.

5.  Admits patients into a room in the HMS system.

6.  Revise registration with updated information received from patient. Prepares patient labels and ID bracelet.

7.  Copies and distributes paperwork to various departments.

8.  Ensures that the admissions process is done accurately and completed in a timely manner.

9.  Provides support to the data processing department with daily census, charge entry, etc.

10. Provides support to the main reception desk during breaks, lunch, and all day support when receptionist is off.

11. Provides tours for patients and families.

12. Provides support to the preadmission team when necessary.

13. Conducts the patient interview in a professional, considerate and compassionate manner.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

1.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2.  As minimum of one year experience within an Admissions or Pre-Admissions department preferred.

3.  Knowledge of Insurance Verification preferred.

4.  Data entry experience required. Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute.
