This position is responsible for the analyses to support a variety of cross-functional initiatives. This candidate is also responsible for working with a variety of departments beyond the Actuarial and Analytic Services department in the development and management of projects and initiatives across the company. This candidate must be an independent thinker and as well as team player with strong communication skills. This individual must be able to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical staff including, clinical staff, contracting staff, financial services staff and others across the company.Key Responsibilities Collaborate with, and provide effective analytical and strategic support to business owners of a variety of company initiatives, workgroups, and Finance teams charged with evaluating these programs. Work collaboratively across the Actuarial and Analytic Services department to develop and implement actuarial models for corporate initiatives. Lead development of analyses to determine how these programs are performing from a financial perspective and evaluation of cost/benefit results, and ensure that results are accurately reflected across the entire business. Provide other supportive analyses and work as needed. Work closely across all departments of the company in the development and management of corporate initiatives. Troubleshoot process and/or data issues with both internal and external customers working jointly with business owners and other BCBSMA departments. Participate on ad hoc projects as needed to support business goals and corporate initiatives. Key Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Math, Business, Health Care or related field strongly preferred Experienced Associate of the Society of Actuaries and/or financial analyst with 4-5 years of relevant experience in healthcare. Strong experience in analysis, interpretation and reporting using large-scale medical or administrative data sets. Familiarity with clinical study concepts and methodologies. Strong PC skills and application experience required. Mainframe programming skills and experience with data mining software (e.g. SAS, COGNOS, etc.) desirable. Solid understanding of health insurance cost drivers, managed care, accounting principles, the competitive market, and the legislative environment Product knowledge Negotiation skills Project management and organizational skills to perform a variety of projects under specific time restraints Strong written and oral communication skills in a variety of settings (one-on-ones, presentations, group discussions) and to a variety of audiences (technical, non-technical audiences, peers and leaders) Creative problem solving skills Strong analytical skills and technical expertise Position Information Location:  Boston, MA 02215 Job Category:  Accounting/Finance/Insurance Reference Code:  bcbs-00001899 Our commitment to building a diverse workplace is without question.
