Carolina Donor Services is the federally designated organ procurement organization serving 6.1 million people in 79 counties of North Carolina and Danville, Virginia. Our service area includes 102 hospitals, and four transplant centers that perform heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.

Our team of dedicated professionals work diligently to increase the awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors and to deliver the most sensitive approach to organ and tissue donation. We perform public and professional education, as well as coordinate the entire organ and tissue donation process.

Carolina Donor Services has three main offices - Durham/Chapel Hill - Greenville and Winston-Salem.

 

We are seeking an Accounting Technician-Accounts Payable for our Greenville, NC office. 

 

Job Title: Accounting Technician-Accounts Payable

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Department Name:  Finance

Reports to: Vice President of Finance

Job Summary:  The Accounting Technician-Accounts Payable is responsible for processing accounts payable.  The position also assists the CDS finance department in administering other financial operations within the organization.

 

 

Primary Accountabilities:

 

1. Adheres to the general CDS standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.

¨ Follows CDS policies and procedures

¨ Follows departmental policies and procedures

¨ Contributes to the overall quality of the organization

 

2. Prepares and Processes CDS Accounts Payable

¨ Processes accounts payable

¨ Reviews CDS expense reports

¨ Reviews and verifies invoices and match with purchase orders

¨ Assures AP payments are timely and accurate

¨ Request and prepare hospital bills for review and payment

¨ Works to maintain open communication with vendors

¨ Prepare monthly accruals

¨ Maintain donor cost log book and track Tissue Recovery Specialist’s case activity

¨ Maintain company vehicle log, maintenance, mileage and gas receipts

¨ Prepares AP reports for review by CDS Vice President of Finance

 

3. Coordinates payables associated with organ and tissue donation

¨ Works in concert with CDS clinical staff to review donor hospital bill(s)

¨ Communicates routinely with accounting departments at donor hospital

 

4. Assists in preparing CDS payroll

¨ Knowledge of Solomon accounting payroll software module

¨ Serves as backup for the accounting specialist in payroll

 

5. Serve as backup for CDS Accounts Receivable

¨ Has working knowledge of A/R to assist when needed

 

6. Ensures that administrative phone lines are answered promptly and professionally

¨ Routes calls to the appropriate party

¨ Communicates in a courteous manner

 

7. Performs other duties as assigned by the CDS Vice President of Finance and/or President/CEO

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, occasional lifting (up to twenty pounds), finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity

 

Work Environment: normal office environment

 

Education: Associate degree preferred with background in accounting

 

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Not applicable

 

Skills and Qualifications: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs, knowledge of accounting software, demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
