ASP Developer

Position Summary:

 

The ASP Developer under the guidance and supervision of the Manager, programming plans, develops, tests and documents programming solutions for the Company that facilitate business operations. This position’s primary responsibility is the development of applications to support Corporate and Regional operation and reporting needs. The ASP Developer must possess programming skills and the ability to learn new programming languages as needed.  As new technologies emerge and impact the product, the ASP Developer is expected to learn these new technologies and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with current systems. The ASP Developer is a key resource for other staff providing advice, training, and support for various projects. In addition, the ASP Developer may work alone or be assigned to work on a team in evaluating current business requirements and objectives and making decisions on future development.

 

Responsibilities:

Participates in all aspects of the Product Development Process.  Translates user needs into product requirements. Attends meetings with client team and above managers to analyze and understand business requirements, objectives, desired features and input and output requirements. Reviews high-level designs to understand customer requirements. Transforms software requirements into design. Develops technical specifications for review and analysis. Participates in decisions to evaluate third-party products for make vs. buy tradeoffs and integration strategies. Implements the design into code.  Documents code consistently and thoroughly throughout the development process. QA of the code. Responds promptly and professionally to issues uncovered during testing of the code. Participates in the development of testing protocols. Training and implementation of the product into the field. Responds promptly and professionally to bug reports and system enhancements. Contributes to defining the future direction of product releases.  Participates in IS team meetings.  Updates, repairs, modifies and expands existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Management Information Services, or Engineering.  Any combination of education or certification equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Management Information Systems, or Engineering. Minimum of 3 years of programming experience.  Experience with Visual Basic and some database knowledge required.  Experience with SQL-Server, ADO, ASP, .NET, VB, C#.  Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.  Excellent trouble-shooting skills required. Ability to work independently, within teams and be flexible in work assignments. Ability and willingness to learn the practice management and managed care business from the ground up.  Ability to work as a team player. Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.  Ability to effectively communicate (verbal/written) with management, consultants, clients and other associated employees.  Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment in dealing with various vendors and staff.  Basic understanding of the business and its programming requirements. Patience, persistence and ability to work on exacting analytical work, especially under pressure. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ingenuity, creativity and imagination to design solutions.
