ANNUAL ONCOLOGY NURSING SYMPOSIUMISSUES AND TRENDS IN ONCOLOGY NURSING PRACTICE September 29, 20087:30 A.M. –  4:30 P.M.At Shutters On The BeachOne Pico BoulevardSanta Monica, CA 90405PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONThe Oncology Symposium is sponsored by Saint John’s Health Center and is intended for nurses interested in the current trends and issues pertaining to care and management of oncology patients.   COURSE OBJECTIVESAt the completion of this symposium, the participants will be able to:· Discuss the psychosocial impact of cancer for survivors.· Identify nursing management issues related to the care of ovarian cancer patients.· Describe current trends in clinical research.· Verbalize pain management techniques for the oncology patient.· Discuss nursing management of the thoracic surgical patient.· Compare current oncology nursing practice with future predications.· Identify the management of cancer patients with anemia.  CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITSaint John’s Health Center is a certified provider of Nursing Education (California Provider No. CEP 490).  CEUs (6.5hrs) will be provided at the end of the program.    FEE SCHEDULESymposium Registration - $75.00 for ALL Saint John’s employees.  $150.00 for ALL-Non Saint John’s attendees. $175.00 Late registration fee after September 10, 2008.  Make checks payable to Saint John’s Health Center Education Department.  Fees include CEUs for RNs, continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and parking.    REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellation must be received in writing by September 15, 2008.   No refunds will be granted after this date.  All refunds will be  assessed a $20.00 administrative fee.  If the sponsor cancels the  symposium, a full refund will be granted.  Please direct questions to Saint John’s Department of Education  at (310) 582 – 7202.
