Unix System Administrator

Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project Job Category: IT/Software Development Unix System Administrator TEKsystems is seeking a Unix System Administrator to support a Federal Government Contractor.The successful candidate will perform system administration on Unix systems that include, Linux (RedHat, SUSE, etc.), Sun Microsystems Solaris, and IBM/AIX operating systems. The duties include installing and maintaining operating systems, software packages, and performing security audits on various Unix platforms. The duties may also include, but not limited to, maintaining network communications between a heterogeneous mix of Unix and Windows systems, resolving LAN and networking issues, as well as installation, configuration and maintenance of software packages including, compilers, statistical and analytical packages, system management tools, backup/archive clients for network wide backup systems, and Unix system utilities. A working knowledge of shell programming is essential. Additionally, knowledge of Unix hardware configuration is desirable. This position requires 5-10 years of directly related experience. A combination of directly applicable experience and specialized training may be considered.
