Position Description: TRADOC DCSINT G2 /FMSO African Intelligence Analyst Synopsis: The United States Army Training and Doctrine Command's (TRADOC) Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (DCSINT) provides strategic, operational, tactical and program analysis for the Future Force to address potential vulnerabilities and exploitable characteristics for Current Operational Environment (COE). The Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) is a research and analysis center under the TRADOC Intelligence Support Activity (TRISA). FMSO manages and operates the Ft. Leavenworth Joint Reserve Intelligence Center (JRIC) and conducts analytical programs focused on emerging and asymmetric threats, regional military and security developments, and other issues that define evolving operational environments around the world. Joint Reserve Component personnel and units, operating at the Ft. Leavenworth JRIC and in distance drilling analytical teams around the U.S. and abroad make substantial contributions to all FMSO production efforts. Basic Functions: The contractor will be the principal resource on African issues at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO). The contractor shall provide military and program analysis and respond to the technical direction of the DCSINT. Personnel supporting this effort shall be versed in DCSINTs and TRADOC's missions. They shall have a thorough and complete understanding of planning, integrating, and conducting staff action procedures, and operational aspects of how TRADOC and DCSINT work. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: - The incumbent will be the principal resource on African issues at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO), an unclassified, open source research and intelligence center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. - The incumbent will focus on multiple subjects in the region, to include terrorism, military capabilities, telecommunications, disease, ethics and Islamic banking ties to terrorism. - The incumbent will respond to the intelligence requests that FMSO receives that deal with African issues, even when they do not deal with the incumbent's specific research program. - The incumbent will be asked to represent FMSO on occasion, whether it is to interact with visitors to FMSO or as part of CONUS or OCONUS meetings dealing with African security - The incumbent is expected to travel to the region at least once per year to maintain expertise and conduct specialized research - The incumbent will support the TRADOC G-2 ROTC Culture and Language Immersion Program (Senegal) by helping to develop the curriculum and offering country-relevant expertise. - The incumbent will assist with curriculum development and as possible instruction for FMSO's Open Source Intelligence Research and Analysis (OSIRA) course, which is offered once per month and lasts for two weeks. - HS diploma or equivalent experience.- 15 years experience preferred.- The successful candidate should have a broad background in studies to include medical and environmental issues specific to Africa - The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge and published research on multiple subjects in Africa, with broad-based knowledge about the history, culture, security, and politics of Africa in general. - Experience conducting travel and research in Africa - Ability to read and write clearly in English, at a publishable level, with analytical ability recognizable by an active publication record. - Active Security Clearance.
