The Oregon Department of Transportation was established in 1969 to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians. ODOT develops programs related to Oregon's system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation. The Sustainability Program Manager provides recommendations for integrating the concepts of sustainability contained in the Oregon Sustainability Act (ORS184.421-435) and Executive Order 06-02 throughout the Department, and directs, monitors and reports implementation in all facets of the Department's operations. The Sustainability Program focuses on internal agency operations and the state's transportation system. Embedded in the Sustainability Program are the recent Global Warming/Greenhouse gas initiatives established by the Governor. The salary range is $4525-$6675/month. This position is located in Salem.

As a Sustainability Program Manager you will:
Work with the ODOT Executive Team, ODOT senior management, supervisors and the Governor's sustainability advisor to develop and manage a Sustainability Program for the agency. Provide the Executive Team and agency staff with recommendations and guidance in decision making on issues that may impact sustainability. Provide progress reports to the Director and Executive Team on program implementation and recommend strategic and tactical changes as needed. Support the agency in the implementation of ORS 468A.200-260 which includes supporting the Director as an ex officio member of the Global Warming Commission and as a member of the Land Use and Transportation Subcommittee of the GWC. Monitor efforts related to the Governor's Climate Change Integration Group and the Western Climate Initiative. Act as project manager to prepare, update and implement the ODOT Sustainability Plan. Position Qualifications include: A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work. OR Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
