Sr. Analysis Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity to join our staff in a role that will provide strategic direction for ATK Tactical Propulsion and Controls locations. Alliant Techsystems, Tactical Propulsion and Controls Division, is currently seeking a Senior Structural Dynamist to provide structural dynamics simulation and modeling to support design activities across all Elkton Operations product lines. This may include development of structural models, performing model analysis, conducting dynamic analysis for random vibration and shock environments. This position could be located in Elkton, MD or Morgan Hill, CA.Responsibilities for this position include: - Provide modeling support to define loads, constraints and BCs, selection of applicable material properties, selection of simulation code (i.e. NASTRAN) - Prepare environmental test plans, monitoring testing, interpretation of results and recommendation for design improvement. - Preparation of technical reports and presentations of work product to both internal and external customers. - Provide technical assessments of test hardware and test data. - Evaluate and make recommendations for rocket motor component dynamic environments, loads, and testing for customer specifications/requirements - Provide analytical and design services in support of failure investigations: developing fault trees, developing approaches and providing analytical efforts to assess fault causes. Assist in design effort of test articles to provide data for full scale applications. - Develop analytical approaches of resolution of structural mechanics issues. Requirements for this position include: - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics; Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is desired but not required. PhD in Engineering is also preferred but not required. - A minimum of 12 years or more of relevant work experience with propulsion systems and structural dynamics analysis. - Experience working with NASTRAN and Abacus modeling skills - Experience with logical problem solving skills and presentation/ writing skills - Experience with working in a team environment is also desired - US Citizenship is required With $4.5 billion in annual sales, approximately 17,000 employees, and operations in 21 states, ATK is a company on the move!
