Seasoned DNA Examiner needed!
HSA, headquartered in McLean, Virginia, was established in March 2003 to provide Strategic Security Solutions to U.S. Government agencies in the Intelligence and Defense communities. Today HSA comprises a professional staff with substantial experience in personnel/document/physical security, homeland security, counterintelligence, human intelligence, measurement and signature intelligence, biometrics, research and technology protection, critical infrastructure protection and force protection.
Our mission is to provide subject matter expertise and strategic security solutions for our country’s most sensitive national security agencies. Our support includes security specialists, intelligence analysts, counterintelligence professionals, forensic technicians and senior program advisors. We provide successful implementation of practical and affordable security, counterterrorism and homeland security strategies.
We are actively seeking a seasoned DNA Examiner who will be based out of our Charlottesville, Virginia office location, with proven expertise when performing technical and analytical tasks in the documentation, collection, preservation, and processing of DNA, including scientifically assessing materials of evidentiary value to determine the best methodology for developing, enhancing and preserving evidence from suspects. Professional certification is a must while the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) certification in Forensic Biology is strongly desired.
Principal duties and responsibilities of this highly visible role encompass:
• Processing various types of evidence for DNA Examination
• Preparing detailed reports on processes performed and the associated results.
• Training personnel in the area of DNA examination.
• Maintaining and documenting the chain of custody of evidence.
• Preparing detailed reports on processes performed and associated results.
• Collect and preserve DNA evidence.
Necessary Background needed to be successful in this role:
• Must be a highly qualified DNA examiner with at least five (5) years of recent experience including as a Team Lead of DNA analysts
• Must have the ability to effectively use proper scientific methodology to provide DNA Analysis on:
• Evidence
• Blood and Bloodstains
• Body Fluids and body fluid stains
• Hair samples
• Other items pertaining to or requiring DNA analysis
• Provide analysis of:
• Generation of profiles
• Performance of visual and microscopic examination of hairs
• Proven experience fostering positive relationships in a team environment.
• Proven expertise providing comparison of evidence from victims, scenes, or instruments of incidents to evidence from suspects.
• Having provided expert testimony in court
• Solid Organizational skills
• Proven experience processing evidence with chemicals in a laboratory setting.
• Physically able and willing to rotationally deploy to Afghanistan a minimum of six months a year.
• U.S. Citizenship is required coupled with the ability to obtain a US Military secret clearance and US Passport.
