Radio Systems Specialist
The City of Albuquerque is looking for a strong Radio Systems Specialist that can provide technical support in the implementation, installation, maintenance and repair of two way radio communications and associated electronic equipment; to order parts and materials for work performed; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide technical support in the implementation, installation, maintenance and repair of two way radio communications and associated electronic equipment; to order parts and materials for work performed; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree in electronics or a related field, plus two (2) years experience in two-way radio system repair and maintenance.

Operational characteristics of a variety of two way radio communication equipment including pagers, portable and mobile radios, radio base stations, and remote control systems and consolesMethods and techniques used in the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunication systems and equipmentTheories of electronicsMethods and techniques of preparing installation drawings for two way radio communications equipmentOperational characteristics of telecommunication repair and maintenance equipment and toolsPertinent Federal Communications Commission regulations governing telecommunication activitiesOccupational hazards and standard safety practices
Perform two way radio communication equipment repair, maintenance and installation duties Diagnose and troubleshoot two way radio communication equipment and make recommendations on feasibility of repairRead and prepare installation drawings for two way radio communications equipmentOperate a variety of maintenance and repair equipment in a safe and effective mannerRespond to emergency maintenance and repair calls on a 24-hour basisEnsure compliance with accepted safety procedures and practicesCommunicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general publicMaintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned dutiesMaintain mental capacity that allows the capability of making sound decisions and demonstrating intellectual capabilitiesMaintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
