Job Abstract:
Public Health Advisors (Overseas) conduct disease intervention activities, manage and evaluate programs, and provide technical assistance to foreign governments, and other partner organizations. Program areas that employ public health advisors overseas include immunization, emerging infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, influenza, malaria international health and refugee programs, sexually transmitted diseases, and tuberculosis prevention and others. Information and application at www.usajobs.gov/

Position information:
Selectees are required to serve in an overseas assignment for two years and must sign a rotational agreement. The assignment may be extended up to five years based on the needs of the agency.

Primary Duties
Serves as an advisor on disease control and elimination activities, participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of intervention activities.
Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of public health services in relation to the achievement of international goals and objectives.
Participates in the development and testing of systems for use in the project area to ensure the delivery of public health services to target groups.
Maintains records and reports for program evaluation activities as well as an inventory and proper storage of program supplies, equipment, etc.
Maintains an effective working relationship with WHO and/or international Ministry of Health Officials and other programmatic partner organizations.
Provides advice and support to the program management team regarding morbidity analysis and surveillance activities.
Assists in the maintenance of an active surveillance system.
Analyzes epidemiologic data of disease control program

Requirements
Applicants must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service.
Relevant overseas experience.
Incumbent must have the ability to live and work in a low resource environment and in an environment culturally different the US as well as the ability to provide on-the-job technical training.

Preferences
Incumbent should have sound knowledge of the way in which the various U.S. Government [USG] agencies operate.
Knowledge of CDC programmatic mission, goals, objectives, and management practices to integrate these requirements with program area planning and evaluation activities.Â
Language skills relevant to the country for which applying.                                      Â
