Protective Services Social Worker (Bilingual Spanish)
Under general supervision, the Protective Services Worker performs professional investigation, casework and casework services in the City & County of San Francisco Human Services Agency Family & Children’s Services program. Essential functions include: implementing established methods and procedures in connection with various aid programs for needy children; providing services to protect children and improve family functioning through careful and judicious interpretations of various legal provisions, methods and procedures; establishing and maintaining regular contacts with families, children, relatives and other concerned individuals; gathering, compiling and reviewing important detailed, financial, personal and confidential information; providing consultative services to individuals, government, community agencies and groups regarding protective services; and using a personal computer, including word processing, e-mail, internet, spreadsheet and/or database applications. Performs related duties as required. The essential duties of this position requires incumbents to drive long distances throughout Northern California and may require incumbents to work nights and weekends. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A Master’s degree in Social Work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE); OR a Master's degree in Counseling from an accredited school or university; OR a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs; OR Completion of the requirements for a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) intern registration number issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs. All degrees require completion of 45 semester or 67 quarter units of graduate level courses. AND2. Satisfactory completion of two semesters of supervised fieldwork, which involved the provision of direct services to families or children in one of the following or closely related areas: child welfare, family counseling, juvenile probation, pediatric social work, adolescent alcohol and drug counseling or school social work; OR six (6) months post baccalaureate professional work experience which involved the provision of direct services to families or children in one of the areas previously described.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONTINUOUS TESTING This is a continuous testing announcement. For each filing period, applications will be accepted for a minimum of ten (10) business days, after which time the filing period will be suspended. A cut-off date will be established to administer the selection processes to qualified candidates. Applications received after the cut-off date will be considered for a later examination. An eligible list will be created based on the results of the testing process. Each person on the eligible list has eligibility for one year.
