The Oregon Department of Transportation was established in 1969 to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians. ODOT develops programs related to Oregon's system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation. The Project Manager is with the Department of Transportation, Information Systems Branch, Transportation Application Development (TAD) Section in Salem. TAD is responsible for the planning, development, support and maintenance of all applications development for project development, construction, operations and maintenance areas within ODOT. Application hardware platforms include IBM mainframe, NT servers and PC workstations
The position is responsible for managing IT projects at the senior level for large-sized projects or systems that are complex and could span multiple divisions. The Project Manager also provides senior level customer assistance to resolve complex problems and issues.
The salary range is $4327-$6249/month. This position is located in Salem.
As a Project Manager you will:
Perform project management in the development and enhancement of computer processes for business support areas. These consist of large and complex projects. Develop alternative solutions by researching existing systems, procedures and pertinent customer data; performing cost, volume frequency and procedural analysis; and/or creating approaches to solve new, complex problems. Develop project deliverable(s) through all phases of assigned projects. Responsible for the completion of projects to customers' and supervisors' satisfaction and in accordance to development plans, requirements, standards and agreed upon timelines. Position Qualifications include: Five years of professional consultative, technical or administrative experience providing expert advice and leadership in planning, development, coordination, and implementation of information systems. Experience must include activities in the following: extensive systems analysis; managing a software development environment for multiple concurrent projects; managing projects on client-server platforms; a working knowledge of systems development utilizing structured methodologies and formal application development standards; AND either 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; or two more years of experience providing a knowledge of information systems theory and principles; or Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. 15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level computer science, software engineering, information systems, or equivalent credits may substitute for one year of the professional experience.
