The Lead Database Administrator position contributes to IT functions as well as to the internal customers who depend on guidance and consulting on technologies and systems. The position is located in York, Pa. supporting the Land & Armaments operating group, Ground Systems line of business with various facilities across the United States. Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures, scripts, and/or triggers. Required Database monitoring using various monitoring tools to examine logs and statistics Performance tuning of databases Perform project assigned tasks such as database creation, patch and software installation Database backup and recovery using Rman and Netbackup Unix shell scripting Oracle database 9i, 10g, 11g Oracle 10g Application Server Oracle OEM Utilize Metalink to research and trouble shoot problems. 11+ Years with HS or 7+ Years with AA or 5+ Years with BS or 2+ Years with MS or 0+ Years with PhD Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems and review overall technical architecture for improvements. Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to new technologies Assist developers in examining code for performance improvements Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and work non-standard hours when required Ability to work with people and exhibit exceptional interpersonal, social, practical and diplomatic skills Review and respond to Help Desk tickets submitted by customers.
