GS provides combat vehicle systems in major vehicle families - Bradley, M88, AAV, M113, M109 and M9 - that fulfill more than 20 different current force mission roles. As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, GS will help ensure the future success of U.S. soldiers on the battlefield developing and demonstrating five Manned Ground Vehicles that are part of the family of systems for FCS, including support for the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon in 2008. GS fulfils another key role on FCS as the developer of the Armed Robotic Vehicle in two variants. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. GS is also developing and delivering integrated survivability technologies from body armor inserts to active protection systems that provide a new level of soldier survivability and combat vehicle performance. Manages all aspects of a moderate field modification team that generally is of significant business importance to GSD. The candidate has total project responsibility for meeting the performance requirements of customer specifications and contract within cost and schedule constraints. Must plan, organize, lead, direct, and control all aspects of the project and integrate requirements of manufacturing, suppliers, ILS, Quality, and other functions into product to ensure field modification project is completed on time and within budget. Directly defines and coordinates all job assignments, and contributes to or influences staff development and growth. Has broad knowledge and experience in division products. Maintains an understanding of evolving technologies relevant to his/her project and supports business development activities for application of these technologies in current product lines. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Establish project objectives, priorities, budgets, and approach to accomplish field modification project requirements. Determine resources necessary to effectively perform field modification activity. Lead activity through completion of field modification effort. Make decisions in concert with engineering, logistics, contractor agencies, and program management for resource allocations, and schedule constraints. Work closely with customer to understand any implied requirements to deliver product that provides best value. Regularly interfaces with and reports to customer indicating progress, and status of field modification effort. Ensures quality of work and ensures a safe working environment for all employees. Functions as the point-of-contact with the customer, continually keeping the customer informed and obtaining customer inputs regarding field modification team performance. Position requires Bachelor's Degree (Technical Degree) and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
