Job DescriptionArmy Programs is seeking a Lead System Safety Engineer to supervise a diverse specialty engineering team performing software and hardware safety analysis to support weapons systems programs and IR&D projects.Job requires application of safety engineering skills and knowledge to:1. Manage hardware and software safety engineering projects and personnel2. Plan and manage safety programs using EVMS methodology by proactively managing schedule and cost to stringent metrics3. Lead efforts in software and hardware hazard analysis, identification of effective mitigation strategies and tracking results of safety efforts4. Participate in company level process development efforts and provide proactive leadership in internal, intra-company, and customer safety initiative efforts5. Define safety requirements using systems engineering techniques and tools6. Develop and supervise safety products for influencing the design of emerging hardware and software products7. Lead the development of safety assessments and provide support to product line test activities8. Develop safety inputs to cost and technical proposalsThe position requires diverse knowledge of the engineering design process, including both software and hardware, and significant experience in development programs using MIL-STD 882D. The jobholder will be required to brief higher levels of customer and engineering management and identify and implement innovative safety processes. It is highly desirable that the individual have specific skills in electronics design/maintenance, computer-based fault tree analysis tools and application of hazard analysis results to influence design and have an interest in participating actively in professional associations.
