Parks & Recreation is the steward of nearly 29,000 acres of land—14 percent of New York City—from Yankee Stadium to Central Park to community Gardens and Greenstreets. We are New York City’s principal provider of athletic fields. We are home to free concerts, world-class sports and cultural festivals. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Title: Grants Manager

The Planning division coordinates land use policy, new park development initiatives and environmental assessment/impact reviews for the Parks Department.  It also files grant applications for funding to support agency priorities.  Among these are open space acquisitions, increased recreation amenities, improved waterfront access, an expanded citywide greenway network and enhanced stewardship of natural resources.

We seek a professional individual with grant soliciting and proposal writing experience. The Grants Manager will perform difficult and responsible administrative work in pursuit of grant funds in accordance with the agency’s Strategic Funding Plan, including the production of grant applications for private, federal and state grant funds. Supervise staff engaged in data entry work.  Maintain grant application records and prepare grant status reports. Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities and match grant programs with agency needs. Identify potential grant projects and distribute information to appropriate divisions within the agency. With the Assistant Grant Manager, perform administrative duties for existing and new grants, including the development of budgets and timelines, award and contract documentation, vouchers and closeout documentation. Maintain good relations with funding organizations; provide requested information and reports in a timely manner. Oversee the preparation of required contracts, reports and other documentation as necessary to comply with grantor regulations.  Coordinate with grant recipients and with the agency’s Legal, Budget and Capital divisions.

Additional Qualifications:
1.  A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2.  An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in “1” above; or
3.  A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in “1” above; or
4.  Education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above.  However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in “1” above.  Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in “1” above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 ½ years.
