Division Description:
Currently over 3,000 of New YorkCity’s public assistance recipients gain work experience at New York Cityparks, playgrounds and recreation centers. The agency’s Parks Opportunity Program (POP) sites, locatedthroughout the five boroughs at Park facilities, strive to provide WorkExperience Program (WEP) and POP participants with the necessary skills andcoaching to re-enter the work force, while at the same time meeting the needsof businesses throughout New York. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. More info at www.nyc.gov/parks

Responsibilities:
We seek a highly motivated self-starter to Developeducational curriculum and design lesson plans that incorporate work readinessand academic objectives. Provideliteracy instruction in basic and advanced GED in the areas of math, reading,writing, social studies and science. Test participants using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Advise, prepare and refer participantsto GED testing examinations. Assisting in conducting educational programassessments. Ensurecompliance with academic policies and procedures. Track and monitor participant progress and maintainattendance.

Qualification Requirements:
1. A baccalaureate degree from anaccredited college and three years of satisfactory, full-time progressivelyresponsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must havebeen in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrativework of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semestercredits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-timeprogressively responsible experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma orits educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-timeprogressively responsible experience as described in "1" above; or
4. Education and/or experienceequivalent to "1", "2"or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the oneyear of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1"above. Education above the high schoollevel may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience(but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience describedin "1" above) at arate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months ofexperience up to a maximum of 3 ½ years.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2.  Experience working with diverse groups and/or in a groupsetting.
3.  Experience in classroom teaching or other educationalinstruction.
4.  Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word,Excel and Outlook.
5. Spanish fluency is highly desirable.
6. Ability to work under both direct and indirect supervision.
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
