Fire Chief

Plans, directs, organizes and administers the operations and staff of the Fire Dept; provides leadership and direction to the organization; interprets the goals and policies of the City under the direction of the Commissioner of Public Health & Safety and the City Administrator.  Plans short/long-range goals, objectives, organizational structure and overall direction for the department; negotiates and writes contracts, memos of understanding, inter-governmental and inter-agency agreements; represents the organization at various functinos such as speeches at civic and business associations; develops and recommends operating budget for the department; oversees all administrative and fiscal activity; confers with union representatives on matters of mutual concern and achieve amicable resolutions; directs and participates in the preparation of disaster plans, pre-fire plans and studies; responds to major alarms and natural disasters; serves as a member of the Fire Pension Board; attends City Council meetings; attend continuing education training and drill sessions with Fire Dept. personnel; performs other related duties as assigned.
