Environmental Specialist - Water Quality/Inspections
The City of Grand Prairie is looking a highly motivated professional to be part of our Environmental Services department as an Environmental Specialist - Water Quality/Inspections. The City of Grand Prairie offers great retirement and healthcare benefits. This is a GRAND opportunity to work for a secure employer. Responsible for protecting public health and the environment by ensuring compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. Duties include conducting various environmental inspections; monitoring water quality; overseeing the drinking water quality program and the cross connection control program; conducting public education activities; and responding to complaints. Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field and two years experience in a closely related field. Knowledge of drinking water inspection and monitoring preferred. Requires problem investigation and remediation skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent documentation skills, oral and written communication skills. Must be able to obtain 40 Hour Hazardous Materials Operator status within one year of employment. A valid Texas class C driver license is required.
