As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, GS will help ensure the future success of U.S. soldiers on the battlefield developing and demonstrating five Manned Ground Vehicles that are part of the family of systems for FCS, including support for the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon in 2008. GS fulfils another key role on FCS as the developer of the Armed Robotic Vehicle in two variants. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. GS is also developing and delivering integrated survivability technologies from body armor inserts to active protection systems that provide a new level of soldier survivability and combat vehicle performance. The Senior Quality Engineer ensures product quality on the assigned vehicle platform. Conducts effective working relationship with Integrated Product Team members from Design Phase to Prototype Build process, Vehicle Fit-up, Qualification Testing, First Article Test and ensures smooth and effective Transition to Production. Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers to resolve complex technical problems, market organization's products/technology, and implement solutions. Provides technical review and guidance to other engineers in area of expertise. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Creates, plans, and performs complex engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test and/or product assurance tasks for a portion of a project or may lead these activities for a small project. Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements. Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. Provides input, analysis, and recommendations to project leaders for the development of solutions to complex technical problems or independently solves problems, ensuring compliance with requirements. Ensures technical designs and/or solutions are in accordance with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements by analyzing and interpreting requirements/specifications, drawings, documentation, and/or test results. Prepares and presents task/project technical results, recommendations and solutions to internal and external customers. Provides input and status to project leaders on technical content, cost, schedule, and workload requirements.
