Deskside Team Lead

Brookhaven National Laboratory is a nonprofit research and development institution whose purpose is to advance ideas and knowledge through a multidisciplinary program of basic and applied research.  Our Information Technology Division has a full time opportunity for a Deskside Team Lead professional.

 

The Deskside Team Lead responsibilities include include 2nd level troubleshooting of desktop applications, network connectivity, and all computer hardware and peripheral devices. Candidate will escalate issues to other support groups for problem resolution outside of the scope of desk side support and coordinate high priority scheduling.  Must be able to assist other technicians with complex issues and lead staff to the efficient resolution of problems. Will be responsible to train new employees and re-train existing employees in new and/or different processes. Will be responsible for configuring and creating ghost imaging for computers and laptops; and administering Windows 2000/XP/Vista using Active Directory/Net IQ.  Will maintain and use technical expertise and tools to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve service requests in a timely manner. Candidate will recommend and review solutions to problems for ultimate publication in the Knowledge Base.  Must operate well in a team environment, and must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista operating systems, PC hardware and general software support.

 

The requirements for the Deskside Team Lead include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, good organization and communication skills, both oral and written, and at least 3 years of related experience in an information technology field.  Certification as a Desktop Support Technician, along with hardware and software certifications are a plus.  Must have strong leadership skills and advanced technical background supporting Windows desktop/mobile systems for customers on multiple computer systems and related applications.  Must operate well in a team environment, and must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista operating systems, PC hardware and general software support.  A valid driver’s license is required for on-site system pickup and delivery. Candidate must be able to lift 30 lbs.  Occasional after hours escalations on a rotating basis required.
