Defense Operational Analyst
Job Category: Project/Program Management Job Reference ID Number: 3839 Defense Operational Analyst At least 15 to 20 years of military experience in combat arms, combat support, communications, maintenance management, systems acquisition or operational/strategic planning. Must have had three years experience working at a Combatant Commander (COCOM) or Service Component staff. Joint Staff experience is acceptable. Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned projects or manage major task with a significant deliverable content. Five years of progressive experience in analyst positions involving any of the following areas, as appropriate: operational and strategic planning, assessment of military operational requirements, development of military exericses and training events.Defense Operational Analyst, work onsite at customer located in Southern Command, Miami, Florida, works independently or as a team member of a providing support to the DoD Non-Lethal Weapons (NLW) Program. Assists in the establishment, execution, and management of an NLW program within the COCOM AOR. Coordinate day-to-day staff interaction to ensure that NLW are considered and when appropriate fully integrated into the deliberate and crisis planning process including component training/familiarization events. Provide recommendations regarding service component command Operational Needs Statements (ONS) or Urgent Universal Needs Statements (UUNS) pertaining to NLW capabilities. Coordinate Command NLW capability need identification efforts within COCOM requirement officers and the Services. Plans and coordinates NLW capability assessments to identify NL mission needs, capability requirements and capability gaps. Identify opportunities for the inclusion of NL Technologies into command Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration programs. Serve as the conduit to topic-specific subject matter experts (SMEs) within the technology, capability integration and acquisition domains. Assist, when required in the development of Service NLW JCIDS documents and Concepts of Employment. Ensure NLW events are coordinated on the COCOM master training calendar and that the JNLWD is informed and cognizant of COCOM events with NLW components. Provide or arrange for education and training on NLW/C as needed to certify users for the employment of available NL systems.
