POSITION INFORMATION
The County of Sonoma is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Liability/Claims professional to join the Liability Management team in the Risk Management Division of the Human Resources Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional to engage in the full range of the claims handling process in the public sector arena. In this position, you can look forward to something new or different in your work almost each and every day. Typical duties of this position include, but are not limited to, reviewing, investigating, analyzing, and making recommendations regarding the disposition of tort, property, and subrogation claims; reviewing and approving contract insurance certificate requirements; representing the County in Small Claims Court and at settlement conferences or other alternative dispute resolution; and dealing effectively with claimants, employees, and other agencies. The ideal candidate will possess:
 Significant and recent professional level experience providing the full range of claims handling and processing Good working knowledge of the principles and practices of insurance law and Risk Management claims procedures as they relate to public entities Considerable knowledge and experience applying legal statues and civil procedures relating to claims adjusting Effective interpersonal skills to successfully resolve issues with claimants, employees, and other agencies Strong analytical skills and good judgment Excellent written and oral communication skills An Associate of Risk Management or Claims designation or related courses or training is highly desirable

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Academic coursework in public administration, business administration, accounting, law, economics, safety, industrial engineering, risk management, and/or other related courses. A bachelor's degree related to one of these fields is highly desirable. Experience: Two years of professional level experience working with occupational safety and health programs, workers' compensation, disability management, employee benefit and insurance, liability, casualty insurance, or loss control programs, preferably with a public agency and/or in a risk management program. Â The most qualified candidates will possess professional level experience handling casualty and liability claims.
