Construction Manager

The Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Business Unit currently has a need for a Construction Manager to work on site in New Castle, DE. Position is an 18-month assignment on site in New Castle, Delaware for the management of a large scale construction project. After assignment ends candidate will assist with other construction management projects within the company. Candidate must review pertinent references to understand applicable codes, design and construction regulations to include but not limited to green/sustainable design and verification. Provide technical support for site surveys/assessments and site preparation coordination tasks for utilities, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plans, waste water treatment, permits, etc. Review and provide technical comment on construction schedules and progress. Review shop drawings, RFIs, etc. submitted by contractors for compliance with contract provisions. Review design modifications and change orders related to proposed construction changes based on field conditions or agency changes, and act as liaison with A&E design team. Attend on site or other location design charettes and/or job conferences. Provide technical support and/or act as the Clients representative, and monitor site safety during construction activities. Provide technical input to the Client in accomplishing independent government cost estimates for A & E site assessment, preliminary design, RFP generation, and/or CM, and review of corresponding A&E proposals. Provide construction management/on site technical support for site preparation and construction to ensure construction quality and design/code/specification compliance. Participate as a team member in final acceptance inspection for completed projects. Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Sciences or Construction Management with 2 years hands-on experience in managing vertical construction projects is preferred. Associates Degree with 5 years hands-on experience, or an overall minimum of 8 years field experience in construction is acceptable. Candidates will need to show their capability at implementing Design-Build product delivery methods, and their familiarity with building codes and site development environmental plans. Additional responsibilities will include constructability reviews, technical evaluations of contractor submittals, and coordination of owner-contractor correspondence. Scheduling and financial control experience a must.
