Job Description:Act as a liaison with MAXIMUS Corporate Communications (Investor Relations and Media Relations), external communications consulting agencies and HHSC Research and complete publications for internal and external audiences, including employee newsletters and management reports Manage the communications/messaging and design of the internal website Respond to requests for information from the media or designate another appropriate spokesperson or information source Establish and maintain open communication with the State of Texas, employee and public interest groups Confer with production and support personnel to produce or coordinate necessary deliverables to the client Study the objectives, policies and needs of organizations to develop public relations strategies Confer with other managers to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on business decisions Consult with human resources to arrange internal campaigns to influence employee morale Apply creative talents to help design graphics and style elements for publications and websites Perform other duties as may be assigned by management
Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communication, journalism, or related field Or two-to-five years of experience in communication, journalism or related field Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar Knowledge of media production, communication, dissemination techniques and methods Alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media Ability to work well with business professionals and non-technical staff at all levels, Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment Ability to work with a diverse work force Must be self-motivated, organized and able to adapt quickly to changing demands on time and work efforts Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products preferred in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Access, MS Project, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint Knowledge of Associated Press or Chicago Manual of Style required
