Civil Engineer E.I.T.
GENERALSUMMARY
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Design construction plans and prepare specifications;
· Coordinate survey requests;
· Perform field investigations;
· Prepare documents for bidding;
· Coordinate between Engineering Design and Construction Inspection groups;
· Coordinate with Environmental Services Department to permit projects;
· Review construction plans prepared by consultants; and
· Direct CADD support personnel. Other duties may be required as the nature and scope of the job directs. KNOWLEDGE
· Successful job applicant must have:
Ø Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering with curriculum in hydraulics, channel flow and geotechnical issues; and
Ø E.I.T. certification preferred.
· Successful job applicant must further possess:
Ø Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel; and
Ø Knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS systems.
Ø Knowledge of construction specifications is preferred.
· Successful job applicant must also demonstrate ability and competency to:
Ø Prioritize and schedule multiple tasks;
Ø Utilize excellent verbal and communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers, general public, industry, and/or governmental representatives; and
Ø Successfully complete comprehensive physical examination and drug screen.
Ø Applicants will be subject to general posting requirements.
LICENSE Eligibility to be licensed as a Texas registration as a Professional Engineer; and Valid Texas Class “C” Operator Driver’s License are required. PHYSICALEXERTION
Includes stooping, bending, and/or lifting of items up to 20 pounds, and requires: Occasional standing and walking on rough and uneven surfaces or ground such as sloping terrain, plowed or furrowed areas or construction sites; Ability to walk up and down steep slopes of ditches maintaining balance and maneuvering on very rough and uneven terrain; and Driving of a District vehicle with automatic controls.
