GS is committed to force protection, from the current force to the future force, and from vehicle systems to individual soldiers. GS provides combat vehicle systems in major vehicle families - Bradley, M88, AAV, M113, M109 and M9 - that fulfill more than 20 different current force mission roles. As military forces confront threats around the world, GS is supporting the current force with vital enhancements to existing systems and offering new solutions to rapidly meet essential customer needs. As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, GS will help ensure the future success of U.S. soldiers on the battlefield developing and demonstrating five Manned Ground Vehicles that are part of the family of systems for FCS, including support for the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon in 2008. GS fulfils another key role on FCS as the developer of the Armed Robotic Vehicle in two variants. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. GS is also developing and delivering integrated survivability technologies from body armor inserts to active protection systems that provide a new level of soldier survivability and combat vehicle performance. GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of the capture, under general direction and guidance of V.P. Business Development, Business Winning, to be accountable for winning the order and overall leadership of capture activities for a specific opportunity. Has the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to the opportunity, including getting the capture team resourced, determining strategies, teaming and partnering, solution alternatives, and maintaining the customer relationship. The Capture Manager is responsible for stakeholder management and keeping the Business Leadership Team informed and engaged. This includes preparing for and organizing all Business Winning LCM reviews, to include Phase Reviews (0-2B), Bid Status Reviews, and Bid Approval Reviews. The Capture Manager will follow our Business Development process, to include Price-To-Win, to create the overall business deal. This position requires close collaboration with a Program Manager to establish a profitable and executable solution set and a Proposal Manager to develop a compelling and compliant proposal. The Capture Manager is authorised to escalate issues needing resolution in order to capture new business. Ability to access classified information may be required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Qualifies opportunities in conjunction with IBPP 2. Leads the development and execution of winning strategies, including the recruiting and selection of teaming partners 3. Establishes the winning offering and solution sets, including price-to-win targets, schedule, technical, management, past performance, etc. 4. Prepares for and organizes Business Winning phase reviews (0-2B). 5. Drives Chairman selection and briefs all LCM and related bid approval reviews, up through L&A, Inc, and Plc as necessary. 6. Tailors the GS Business Development process to fit the opportunity in line with specified process parameters. 7. Manages Capture Team activities from Business Winning Capture Team Development Stage through Post-Submittal Stage, working in partnership with the Program Manager and Proposal Manager. 8. Develops Price-To-Win, based on in-depth knowledge of Competitor activity and Customer requirements/funding. 9. Communicates win strategies, Customer and Competitor status to all stakeholders, including teaming partners. 10. Develops and maintains the Capture Plan through completion of the opportunity pursuit. 11. Leads/manages communication and relationship with customer, partners and subcontractors. 12. Determines staffing needs and priorities of Capture Team and leads the selection of reviewers for Team Reviews (e.g. Black Hat, Pink, Red). 13. Develops Basis for Estimate for staffing and labor categories, as required, in conjunction with Program Manager. 14. Develops and manages Capture and Proposal budgets for IR&D, Marketing and B&P necessary to position to win and adjusts budgets request over time as circumstances change. 15. Recommends and justifies company investment in IR&D, Marketing and B&P to position to win new business. 16. Creates White Papers and Strategic Briefings in route to positioning to win new business. 17. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of modern Capture management and Proposal development requirements. 18. Aggressively manages Business Development process adherence and schedule for on-time delivery throughout the process. 19. Assures quality of deliverables (prese Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires more than 10 years of relevant work experience. A very high level of analytical ability to understand complex technical marketing and develop long-term strategies to manage the continual marketing of existing, new systems and/or developing potential systems, subsystems, or technologies. An extremely high level of communication skills to present, inform, and persuade high level internal and external customers of the company's understanding of customer needs and requirements, business development plans, strategies and actions. A very substantial level of innovation to develop strategies to capture new business and develop competitive advantage by generating new, moderately complex persuasive marketing approaches to ensure existing concepts remain sold to the customer and new concepts are accepted by the customer.Master's degree preferred in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. More than 7 years of relevant work experience in the defense industry. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in technology based project and program management. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead successful cross-functional Capture and Proposal teams.
