CBM Research Engineer
FSSI is seeking an Engineer to conduct research and support US Army TACOM technology assessments in the field of Vehicle Telematics and Condition-Based Maintenance. Work closely with government subject matter experts to develop research objectives. Establish procedures for gathering data and identify sources of information for research work. Develop reporting process and a plan for conducting the study process. Conduct research, data collection and market studies of current and future technologies through resources such as academia, commercial industry, technical publications, technology conferences and other government agencies. Travel as required. Establish good lines of communication and work rapport with government and industry contacts. Keep management informed at all times. Provide status reports as required internally and by the government. Knowledge of embedded diagnositcs. This includes J-bus architectures (J1708/1939/1850) found on current line-haul trucking platforms (Freightliner / Oshkosh) and diagnostic knowledge of current automotive industry practices. Knowledge of embedded computing and data acquisition of various sensor data (both analog and digital). Knowledge of service oriented architectures (publish and subscribe) and understanding the formation of software data ontologies/architectures. Knowledge of common wireless network technologies (WiFi, Zigbee, WiMax). Knowledge of satellite communication (SATCOM) and other RF technologies. Knowledge of telematic applications focused on inter/intra-vehicle communications. BS in Electrical, Computer Science or Computer Engineering. 5 years automotive experience. Familiarity with military vehicles a plus. Proficient is MS applications, including MS Project. High level of interpersonal skills. High level of oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. US Citizenship required. DOD security clearance a plus. Ability to obtain security clearance is required.
