Current weapons systems production for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and international customers include: • Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAP) • Bradley Family of Vehicles • M88 tank recovery vehicle and the M88A2 • Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift and Evacuation System (HERCULES) • M109 155mm self propelled howitzer to include current M109A6 Paladin • Amphibious Assault Vehicle AAV7 • M9 Armored Combat Earthmover (ACE) • M113 Family of Vehicles to include armored personnel carriers, medical, command and control, engineering mortar launching vehicles As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, BAE Systems is responsible for five of the eight manned variants and for major elements of the common platform design. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. Technology developments in composite materials, hybrid electric power systems, active protective suites, integrated vehicle survivability, reactive and passive armor kits, crew station design, training systems, unmanned ground vehicle capabilities and other features position the organization at the forefront for future ground combat system developments. Ground Systems is certified to ISO 9001 standards and the highest level (Level 5) on the Capability Maturity Model - Integrated (CMM-I) for systems and software engineering. Job Summary Exercises judgment and ingenuity with good working knowledge of materials purchased and sources of supply to procure semi-complex finished items, assemblies and significantly critical parts at a competitive price in conformance with LOB and Government policies and standards. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Procures materials, expense items, equipment, and services within provisions of U.S. Government Federal Acquisition Regulations with signature authority up to $25,000 per order. Follows-up on orders to expedite delivery and shipment, as required. Selects qualified suppliers and negotiates and determines best quality, quantity, and price with delivery. Evaluates information to assess supplier reliability in supplying requested material through trip reports, cost analysis reports, supplier P&L statements, supplier visitations, D&B?s quality system audit reports, and other computerized reports. Provides other departments, upon request, with current market price and delivery information. Analyzes purchase requisitions for proper coding, specifications, accuracy, and completeness of information; recommends substitute if requested material is unavailable. Negotiates with suppliers for return of repair of materials that do not meet LOB/government specifications. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. Associate's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience. Analytical ability sufficient to evaluate suppliers and analyze purchase requisitions; ability to understand drawings and specifications. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform price analysis and negotiate pricing as well as knowledge of DOD and FAR regulations. Close mental/visual application required to locate, select, and negotiate prices and to determine accuracy of purchase requisitions. Other areas managed but not limited to include; business development, support of audits (CPSR), Women Owned, Small and Small Disadvantaged Businesses, assisting in the management of Government property. Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience in the defense industry.
