GS is committed to force protection, from the current force to the future force, and from vehicle systems to individual soldiers. GS provides combat vehicle systems in major vehicle families - Bradley, M88, AAV, M113, M109 and M9 - that fulfill more than 20 different current force mission roles. As military forces confront threats around the world, GS is supporting the current force with vital enhancements to existing systems and offering new solutions to rapidly meet essential customer needs. As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, GS will help ensure the future success of U.S. soldiers on the battlefield developing and demonstrating five Manned Ground Vehicles that are part of the family of systems for FCS, including support for the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon in 2008. GS fulfils another key role on FCS as the developer of the Armed Robotic Vehicle in two variants. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. GS is also developing and delivering integrated survivability technologies from body armor inserts to active protection systems that provide a new level of soldier survivability and combat vehicle performance. Provides front-line leadership to Bargaining Unit employees in direct labor production departments, and indirect labor support departments. This is a highly demanding position interfacing between management and the direct/indirect labor workforce. Also, provides guidance to newly assigned ATL?s demonstrating to them and training them in systems, procedures, and behavior. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate at all levels within the organization. Principle Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs all the duties and responsibilities of an Area Team Leader I plus: 2. Works with ATL I?s to provide training and guidance in how to handle issues and situations that happen on an exception basis. 3. Helps train new ATL I?s in the AS400 Timekeeper labor collection system. 4. Instructs new ATL I?s in the tools and techniques of the Management Operating System as designed and taught by DeWolff, Boburg, and Associates. 5. Makes suggestions that other ATL I?s can use to improve their departments? performance to objectives, and help them solve problems that are schedule or human resource based. 6. Represent the Manufacturing Manager in his/her absence in all areas of the manufacturing environment. 7. Effectively and efficiently utilize that part of the Strategic Architecture for which responsibility lie i.e. TQM, GS-Anniston Operating System, and Core Values. 8. Must be capable of leading 5-S Lean projects with the help of a member of the steering committee. 9. Conducts root cause investigation and develops corrective action steps when unsatisfactory processes are producing poor yield, and/or when scrap or rework is at unacceptable levels, or latent defects are being discovered through the warranty process 10. Makes sound decisions that are supported by policy and procedures for unusual issues or circumstances. 11. A good understanding of all policies and procedures that apply to direct and indirect employees and the requirements of the bargaining unit agreement. 12. Responsibility of a signature level of authority defined by the Standard. 1. Work requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of 6 years first-line supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; or Associate?s degree, plus 4 years of manufacturing experience and 3 years supervisory experience; or an Associate?s degree plus 4 year?s supervisory experience; or a 4 year college degree, plus 3 years supervisory experience. 2. Certain positions may require a specific technical background, such as welding, painting or warehouse/traffic, machining, heat treating or, die making, or forging operations. 3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with employees at all levels within the organization. Must be competent presenting performance status both verbally and in written/chart formats. 4. Must have personal computer skills in MS Office products including PowerPoint and Excel. Experience in AS400 Timekeeper is preferred. 5. Must be capable of learning and mastering shop floor systems such as Solumina and other possible future computer systems and training subordinates in its use. 6. Demonstrated ability to train and teach others who are new to supervision, or experienced supervisors who are new to the technical area they are assigned. 7. Can fill in for the Manufacturing manager in his/her absence with respect to managing the shop floor for day-to-day issues and the flow of products. People are the greatest asset in any Company ...
