Leavenworth, Kansas: The overarching goal of the Human Terrain Systems (HTS) program, a DCSINT TRADOC-managed initiative, is to develop methods, tools, ways, and means to understand a foreign populace, culturally speaking, and offer advice at the brigade level about the green layer. HTS is currently in its proof-of-concept phase. During initial training and in processing, prospective members of the Human Terrain Teams (HTT) will have numerous appointments, commitments, and prerequisites that must be accomplished in order to deploy in support of the mission. The ASO will facilitate those commitments for the team members and will be cognizant of all training and appointments that the team members must attend. Basic Functions: The Area Specialty Officers (ASO) must be former military (Desired: Special Forces officers or noncommissioned officers with appropriate regional expertise). The ASO is the conduit between Human Terrain Teams and all other entities. The ASO becomes the subject matter expert on the members of the HTT and enables support to the HTT from inception to mission completion. The ASO will coordinate all aspects from in-processing to out-processing upon mission completion. The ASO will attend training with the HTT and mentor and coach as necessary. The ASO will maintain training and administrative files on the HTT members to include data as detailed as clothing sizes. The ASO performs many tasks for the HTT in training, while deployed and upon their return. The ASO will act as the Family Support conduit for the deployed HTT members. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Act as HTT conduit with all other entities. Serve as the subject matter expert on the members of the HTT. Provide administrative support to the HTT from inception to mission completion. Coordinate all aspects of team members integration from in-processing to out-processing upon mission completion. Periodically attend training with the HTT and mentor and coach as necessary. Maintain training and administrative files on the HTT members to include data as detailed as clothing sizes. Performs many tasks for the HTT in training, while deployed and upon their return. Set up medical and dental appointments. Arrange for CAC cards and ID tags. Coordinate CIF issues. Facilitate daily scheduling issues. Maintains records of training activities and employee progress and evaluates effectiveness of programs. Act as the Family Support conduit for the deployed HTT members. Performs additional duties as required. Bachelor's degree with recent experience in military exercise planning, plus 20 years military operational experience. Ex-military with 20 years of experience Former military with OEF / OIF experience. Expertise in Small Team Integration and Deployment. Joint/International/Multi-Agency Exercise Planning Experience. Special Operations Field & Staff Expertise. Veteran of Conventional & Unconventional Army Infantry Unit Operations Cycles.MS Degree DesiredConsiderable Experience with Combatant Command Processes Highly Desired.
