The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) at Seattle City Light is looking for an Application Support Manager to provide management and leadership direction for a workforce of approximately 30 application developers and business analysts.  This key second level management position reports to the IT Application Development and Support Services Manager and has three supervisors as direct reports.  This team provides IT support services for Power Generation and Distribution; Customer Care and Billing; Finance, HR and Communications.

 

Your leadership will help shape the Utility as you manage the on-going maintenance and support of 113 IT applications both in-house developed and COTS.  Key systems include a billing system, asset management, Geographic Information System (GIS), and web content management. Success collaboration with Quality Assurance, our Project Management Office, Application Development, Strategic Technology Services and IT Operations is critical.  Our Application Support Manager is a key member of the ITSD management team and will be responsible for a budget of approximately $5 million.

 

You will also be looked upon to provide guidance to IT supervisors on technical issues, contracting and performance management. You will develop sustainable policies that adhere to standards and cost-effectiveness as well as develop, recommend, or provide input to policies that effect service to customers. As part of your management duties, you will support and mentor subordinate staff as well as administer human resource policies and programs consistently and in support of utility-wide practices to recognize diversity and commitment to racial and social justice.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration (or related field or equivalent experience), 3 – 5 years experience in analysis, design, development of large, complex databases and applications, 1 –2 years project management, as well as prior management and leadership experience with large teams.

 

Desired qualifications include a Masters Degree in Business or IT related field, as least 5 years supervisory experience and Application Development experience in a multi-platform environment using structured methodologies.  Additionally, we are seeking candidates with experience on the following areas: Vendor Management, Resource and Skills Management, Oracle, Agile Development Methodologies, as well as electric utility and/or government experience. The most qualified candidates will have a successful history of building and sustaining high performing teams, strong interest and proven background in developing people and achieving high levels of sustainable performance.
