EXPERIENCE:
3-4 years of recent verifiable work experience in the information systems field, including system analysis, web design and production. Experience must include 3-4 years of web production experience.
DUTIES:
Under general direction of the Project Manager, the Web Programmer works closely with City departments to define business requirements for web sites and web services; analyzes how best to satisfy those requirements through the use of information technology; prepares specifications; designs and develops web sites; and prepares documentation. Duties may include the evaluation of computer system alternatives, training of other team members, and holding the lead role in web design for specific projects. Individual projects may require coordination with other departments including other related duties. Experience with the design and delivery of web based publishing, content management, multimedia and customer service is required.
NATURE OF WORK:
Candidate must be willing to work a 40-hour week as determined by the department. Twenty-four hour on-call support and occasional weekend work is required. Travel within San Francisco may be required. Incumbent may work at other sites as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Meets with clients to clarify requirements and discuss alternative solutions; analyze the feasibility of solutions; and provides time estimates. Designs and develops web sites and applications. Provide website usability services to conduct full website reviews, analysis and functional testing Assists in training users and provide web consultation to clients Provide Website and web application design, development, enhancements, testing, training, documentation, implementation, support. Enhances existing web sites and applications. Provides emergency technical support to clients. Prepares user and technical manuals and instructions. Ensure technical problems with web production systems are identified and resolved in a timely manner Develops specifications, code, test based on user feedback and provide extensive quality assurance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
Education:
Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS:Experience in developing web sites using XHTML, CSS, Javascript Experience in web scripting such as ASP, JSP or PHP is required. Experience in multimedia technologies such as Action script 3.0 and Flash Experience in Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX is a plus Experience working with Content Management and Portal tools such Team site, Ektron, Vignette Experience with web design, usability principles and development tools such as Dreamweaver. Familiarity with the Microsoft suite of office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong customer service orientation and ability to train and mentor others. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Must proactively enhance skills and keep pace with technology.
