Sara Lee Corporation employs 137,000 people worldwide.Position Summary: Responsible for coaching, teaching and mentoring six personnel on a daily basis. Responsible for the safety and well being of those personnel to include maintenance and technical personnel during the off shifts. Responsible for ensuring the production line is prepared for start up and all necessary materials are on hand, and appropriate paperwork is completed. Assign work projects and monitors group schedule to ensure optimum efficiency and rapid turnaround. Reconcile daily production figures and track downtime. Ensures all GMP and safety programs are enforced and maintained. Demonstrate dependability and promote teamwork as well as a professional demeanor. Interfaces with managers and supporting supervisory staff on a daily basis to ensure operational readiness. Responsible for the sanitation regulations of the department. Demonstrate dependability, flexibility and promote teamwork as well as a professional demeanor. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise assigned personnel within their skill set; spray dryer, battery, evaporator, mixing, and packing. Must understand the complex process of extraction in which product monitoring is paramount. Also, leading the operators in this process is critical. Must be able to follow complex process flows and troubleshoot equipment issues when necessary. Must be proficient with the computer and understand JD Edwards and MES software packages. Review production data/information to inure product is produced in a timely manner. Ensure mechanical problems are addressed by either writing work orders or calling the appropriate personnel for repairs. Produce the highest quality product according to customers demands. Responsible for process improvement in order to save costs. Monitor production to determine if product meets quality standards. Ensures samples are taken and are properly documented. Ensures employees are working in a safe manner by wearing appropriate safety/protective equipment in order to prevent on the job injuries. Conduct safety meetings, audits and one-on- one contact on a weekly basis. Ensure the process area is free from safety issues and potential danger to employees. Fill out safety reports and audits as required. Responsibilities include ensuring established policies and procedures are followed, recommending changes to and implementing new department policies as necessary. Responsible for writing work related JSAs. prioritizes staff workloads in order to meet business and customer needs/objectives. Train and provide coaching, teaching, and mentoring, counseling and feedback to employees. Cross trained personnel to ensure flexibility in the absence of primary operators. Establish goals and objective for employees. Train employee in the next higher level of advancement. Monitor performance of employees, address issues as they occur. Promotes teamwork and encourages unit cohesion amongst employees. Strives for nothing less than excellence for himself and co-workers, always seeking to improve. Must do performance evaluations for all employees on an annual basis providing appropriate feedback when needed. Ensure proper housekeeping practices are being implemented by employees.  Prepare department for sanitation inspections and tours. Works closely with other departments within the organization. Manages the daily operation of preventive maintenance, product availability and storage, inventory storage, fork truck maintenance and safety. Facilitate production meeting on a weekly basis, advise Plant/Production manager of any potential problems/details that could significantly impact production plans. Must ensure production schedule is adhered and all appropriate measures are taken to prevent downtime.
