Microbiologist/Biologist

Our client is one of the area leaders in the Scientific Industry.  There is an immediate opportunity available as a Microbiologist/Biologist supporting their on-going manufacturing and research processes. Responsibilities:  Handle all media preparations for the lab, including agars, broths, and slants. Aseptically transfer organisms onto appropriate media for further conformation testing. Enumeration of total Coliforms and E. coli using Fluorocult LMX broth. Salmonella detection using Vidas assay. Direct plating assay for the enumeration of coagulase positive Staph. Enumeration of aerobic mesophilic sporeforming bacteria. Detection of Listeria spp. using Vidas assay. Yeast and mold determination. Measure water conductivity and take pHs for media and samples. Operate autoclaves and evaluated spore measurements for the autoclave. Handle Quality Control responsibilities for the media stock. Analyze all sample tests results in the lab.   Tests include: Ã˜ Yeast/Mold counts, with PDA, isogrids, and petrifilm.Ø Aerobic plate counts with TGY.Ø Staph counts with BP agar plates, BHI broth, and coagulase plasma.Ø Listeria counts with Moxalactum plates, TSAYE plates API test conformation kits.Ø Coliform and E. coli detection with LST1x and 2X, EC broth and BGBB, EMB agar, IMVC agar and 3M petrifilmØ Clostridium counts with anaerobic chambered SFP plates.Ø Lactic counts with MRS agar.Ø Bacillus counts with MYP agar.Ø Psychotroph counts with TGEA agar. Summary of Abilities: Â§ Ability to react to multiple and changing priorities with the ability to achieve results within a compressed time fame. Ability to inspect products for quality, perform analytical testing, and evaluated and compiled data. Ability to work well and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, as well as internal and external customers. Ability to recognize problems, analyze them, and offer solutions and use logical thought processes when making decisions. Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as specifications, procedure manuals and technical data sheets.
