Human Resources Manager - Corporate
Job DescriptionThe primary focus of this position is to support the Human Resources function so that it meets both the needs of the business and of our associates. The HR manager will take the lead role in all of the following functional areas: associate relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, development and revision of HR policies and procedures, associate engagement survey action plan follow up, performance and merit increase monitoring, hiring non-exempt associates and managing data associated with bonus administration. This position supports all Corporate associates and is the primary lead for Foodbuy and Coastal HR related activities and associates. Some travel is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Ensures all Company policies are applied consistently regarding recruitment, postings, promotions, merit adjustments, terminations, and any other standing HR practice or policy to maintain equitable treatment. Objectively coaches associates and management through complex and difficult issues. Provides guidance to management on appropriate disciplinary action. Assists with on site investigations. Maintains and coordinates associate recognition programs. Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws in relation to personnel files, I-9s, public postings, etc. Includes filing of information into the appropriate files. Regularly runs and/or reviews HR activity reports (i.e. under minimum reports, training compliance, etc) for trends, makes recommendations to the HR VP regarding appropriate course of action and implements action steps. Supports internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback process. Assist managers in the development and coordination of job descriptions and structured interviews. Attends department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, provide assistance and implement HR initiatives. Reviews any request for pay increases or other status changes to ensure internal equity and consistency. Processes status change forms. Designs and implements human resources tools to support the strategic and tactical HR business plan. Prepares, coordinates and presents HR related topics at Compass/Foodbuy College and other HR related training (i.e. Orientation, Sexual Harassment, Progressive Counseling). Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and, in conjunction with T & D and or RN, develops specific programs for filling of those gaps. Acts as the diversity champion by attending the Diversity Action Committee meetings and leading assigned tasks and leading corporate diversity activities including diversity recruiting, retention and promotion goals. Manages, facilitates and participates the interviewing and selection process for all non-exempt positions. Drafts offer letters for all positions to ensure appropriate form is used and that all Company policies and practices are consistently applied. Researches salary offers to ensure internal pay equity. Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time. Capable of working independently and as a member of various teams and committees. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Ability to handle confidential information with high integrity and professionalism. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Necessary Ingredients: Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred. 5+ years human resources generalist experience required; management experience a plus. HR experience at a large, multi-unit organization required. Previous experience as part of a centralized HR environment, preferably in a corporate setting. Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred. Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Strong presentation skills required. Training certification a plus (i.e. Zenger-Miller, Stephen Covey, etc.) Ability to travel approximately 20% We provide catering for special events such as the US Open, Ryder Cup and the Academy Awards.
