The Optimum Health Institute (OHI) is a Mission of the Free Sacred Trinity Church (FSTC), a non-denominational Church which has been operating healing ministries since 1976.  At OHI’s San Diego and Austin holistic health centers, people of all traditions are welcome to participate in our program that promotes spiritual and physical healing by teaching ancient spiritual disciplines to align mind, body and spirit.

As a Food Prep Worker, you will offer exceptional service to all customers and play a critical role in preparing foods that purify the body with a raw live organic vegetarian diet and grow sprouts.

Position Overview

 

You will support the Kitchen Manager and kitchen team by preparing raw vegan, fermented and dehydrated foods, the cleanliness of the Mission’s kitchen and dining area and ensuring that you follow and adhere to all safety standards and policies in adherence with the mind, body, and spiritual programs at OHI.

 

Responsibilities

 

§  Prepare and plate raw, vegan food in accordance with prescribed recipes and serve on a timely basis.

§  Prepare fermented and dehydrated food items.

§  Assist with set up and clean up for third week food prep classes.

§  Clean the kitchen, the dining room, and the wheatgrass juicing rooms.

§  Conduct meal prayer circles as assigned.

§  Compost food waste, prep soil and plant wheatgrass, greens and sprouts.

§  Grow sprouts, greens and wheatgrass and harvest.

§  Receive produce deliveries and evaluate for spoilage.

§  Comply with health and safety regulations for food preparation and kitchen operations.Uses equipment and materials properly.

§  Other duties and projects as assigned. QualificationsMust have a minimum of one year food service experience in preparation of raw food (i.e., salads, soups, etc.)Have experience using professional food service equipment. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
