We have a unique opportunity for an Electrical Engineer within our Service Operations department. Successful candidates will have strong problem solving skills, and potentially several years experience as a technical lead and a high level of personal accountability. This role will work closely with the Chief Technician, in diagnostics, troubleshooting, serviceability of Battery and PEM system, development of test process, publications and training. This person must enjoy a challenge + find solutions; willing to work in the field when required and provide support in this emerging service field.
Primary Job Responsibilities: Provide Service Operations support from Headquarters Partner with Field Technicians to determine faults and solutions Drive corrective – preventative action in Service related to Battery & PEM systems. Serviceability and Training Field support when required – travel required (aprox 10 – 20 % year)
Essential skills and experience: Experience with high current/high voltage systems Experience with high current/high voltage sensing technologies Knowledge magnetics, contactors, chokes, bus bars, harnesses, and connectors Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) including new hardware bring-up and debugging techniques Experience with product validation, FMEA, and test system architecture Prefer experience with automotive environmental, reliability, and safety requirements Collect and analyze data to reduce service and warranty costs a plus Troubleshoot analog, power, and digital circuits to the component level. Experience with high power (>10 KW) electrical design, debug, and safety procedures. Experience with embedded microprocessor-based systems hardware and firmware. Understanding of the use and limitations of test equipment including differential voltage probes, current probes, and high voltage isolation techniques. Familiarity with CAN bus protocols. Knowledge of induction motors, IGBT’s and magnetics is a real plus Understanding of power factor correction for boost converters is a plus Good system level debug skills and electrical and thermal design troubleshooting and the ability to verify the problems Proficient at improving the design quality of products. Able to develop diagnostic methods and tools required to improve troubleshooting and repair. Good hands on skills High Power Connections & Systems Large Battery Systems (Packs) Li Ion Battery Experience
Qualifications: BS or MSEE, with 3 or more years of electronics design experience. Educational emphasis on analog and power electronics High Voltage experience Telecom / Server / Power Supply experience a bonus. Significant experience in problem solving
