Counsel - Environmental

The position will provide legal advice and counseling in connection with all environmental media (air, water, land) including: Extensive counseling to all company operations/personnel (including through presentations at internal seminars/meetings), in connection with compliance with existing and proposed environmental statutes, regulations, and internal policies. Assisting the Environmental, Health and Safety Department with the development and implementation of environmental programs and procedures which the Department administers. Handling (or managing the handling through outside counsel, if needed, of) environmental claims, demands, notices of violation, and lawsuits initiated by governmental authorities, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the respective state and local counterparts, and/or private third parties. Assisting the company in connection with permitting, licensing and registering under applicable environmental regulatory requirements, including those administered by EPA and its state and local counterparts. Providing assistance, as needed, on environmental matters relating to various corporate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions. In addition, the position will provide general health and safety law counseling to all company operations/personnel. Job Requirements: Bachelors Degree, J.D. Degree, and law license At least 8 years experience handling environmental matters in all media and specifically related to manufacturing plants and operations in the dairy, food, chemical or other similar industries General knowledge and experience concerning compliance with health and safety regulatory regulations/requirements, including those administered by OSHA, and its state and local counterparts, local emergency planning authorities, and other appropriate regulatory authorities with jurisdiction over health, safety, emergency planning and industrial hygiene matters Strong presentation and verbal/written skills, as well as computer skills Sound analytical skills, as well as strong decision-making and problem solving aptitude Dean Foods Company is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.  M/F/D/V Job Title: Counsel - Environmental Location: DALLAS, TX 75201 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Legal Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: Doctorate
