Corporate Accountant

PepsiAmericas, Inc. is an anchor bottler and distributor of Pepsi and related beverages.  We have operations in 18 states, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean with over $3 billion in annual revenues and 17,000 employees globally.  Due to recent acquisitions, we currently have an immediate opening for a Corporate Accountant in our Schaumburg Corporate Office. The Corporate Accountant applies principles of accounting to prepare and analyze financial information and reports.  The incumbent accomplishes this by compiling field information, analyzing account balances, and preparing monthly profit and loss statements, monthly closing and cost accounting reports through the use of appropriate accounting control procedures.Perform Divisional Monthly Close — 50% Complete monthly close process in established timeline. Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing reports which accurately summarize the Company’s current and projected company financial position. Resolve all questions related to the departmental P&L’s that come from the Department Heads. Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations for all accounts. Analyze and explain P&L variances.Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts, and documents business transactions. — 30% Review General Ledger activity to ensure proper accounting for monthly activity. Research and prepare any necessary re-classes. Review and resolve any open issues. Validate Balance Sheet account activity and balances. Communicate benefits and risks with Department counterparts.Assist other staff members on special projects as required.  — 10% Perform miscellaneous duties such as preparing and presenting Quarterly Balance Sheet Reviews to divisional management. — 10%For successful performance in this position, the incumbent will possess: Commitment to excellence in customer service. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.  CPA is a plus. 2-5 years of recent accounting practices gained through experience and/or training. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and logical, analytical problem solving skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and consistency. Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs, facilitating prompt response to field requests. Ability to establish, monitor and achieve goals with minimal supervision. Ability to successfully work in a group environment. High proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.  PeopleSoft is a plus.
